The landscapes are vast and varied, the people represent a huge range of cultural experiences, and the history of these countries is nothing short of inspiring. Let's take a look at a few of the best things to see in each of these countries.

Austria is one of the most picturesque and charming countries in Europe. It is rich with history and culture, including a long tradition of classical music and world famous waltzes. Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria, a city also made famous by the 1965 movie The Sound of Music. From the historic towns to the dazzling western Alps, there is much to love about Austria.

France is the largest country in Europe, featuring a wide array of terrain and landscapes. There are wonderful warm beaches along the French Riviera, thousands of small villages that range from rustic to quaint, and of course the glittering city of Paris. Castles, art, cathedrals, and many historic sites add tremendous variety to what you might see and do while vacationing in France.

Germany has been an integral part of Europe for centuries, home to amazing castles, beautiful scenery, and truly picturesque mountains. There are nine other countries bordering Germany, so chances are you will encounter a wide variety of people during your travels there. Berlin is a bustling city with tremendous history, and Munich is definitely the place to be during the Oktoberfest festival.

Belgium is a lovely country, with nearly endless charm and attraction. You can enjoy medieval castles in the beautiful countryside or visit some of the seaside villages and towns where life just seems to move at a more relaxed pace. While in Belgium, be sure to sample their world famous restaurants as well as a few of the over 300 types of beer brewed in the country.

Holland is one of the European countries that have some of the best known sights and attractions in the world. Huge fields of tulips, a web of peaceful canals, bicycle-friendly roads and paths, and windmills are just a few examples. If you want to enjoy the bustle of a really amazing city, then Amsterdam is the place to be for lively activity and plenty of pubs!

The United Kingdom is especially terrific to visit because it includes Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and of course, England. With thousands of years of history in architecture, literature, music and more, you can expect to find plenty of activities across the UK's many island areas.

Architecture and art are especially abundant in Italy, of course including the famous Coliseum of Rome. Terrific weather, varied countryside, and a vibrant culture make Italy a terrific choice for your European vacation.

Spain was for many years a quiet country that attracted a minimal number of tourists, but this beautiful place has been "discovered" and is now one of Europe's leading vacation destinations. From the Mediterranean coast with its luxurious beaches and friendly towns, to the bustling cities of Madrid and Barcelona, there is much to see and do while in Spain. You can even venture out to the Canary Islands for an extra special treat while in Spain.
